I visited her home in 1958 or 59. My room mate was from Sheffield, AL, across the Tenn. River from Florence.
Amazing, yes. But why does the Smithsonian feel it is necessary to edit the tape and sync the words Anne Sullivan is speaking with Helen’s mouth so it looks like she is speaking perfectly?

Keller was also fully dependent on others, despite her stunning advances in learning. I can imagine the possibility of her agreeing with ideology that was spoon-fed to her (no pun) out of at least a certain degree of self-recognition of her dependency and wanting to please her caretakers.
