I met someone at a trade show in January who was embarrassed to admit living down the road from where Waking Dead is filmed. I told her I see it as an allegory about the collapse of the urban welfare state, which seemed to brighten her spirits a bit. Next thing shes talking about getting her concealed carry permit, not that it would be a concern if conditions deteriorated to that extent.
