Israel did not want the U.S. to know that Israel initiated the conflict with Egypt, but was claiming Israel was attacked first. Israel was appealing to the U.S. for military aid but did not think the U.S. would support them if the conflict was instigated and initiated by Israel.
But everyone knew this and we had SATELLITES and other SigInt.

If the Liberty was sunk and the attack blamed on Egyptians, the U.S. would be more likely to support Israel in the conflict since a U.S. ship had been sunk by the "Egyptians."
Israel had the ability to sink it and didn't. And no onw does a false flag operation using jets and boats flying their own flag!

Israel was killing civilians and trying to hide this fact by taking out an NSA platform that could reveal those details.

I didn't say Israel did a false flag. I didn't say Israel started the conflict. I said theories that were going around was Israel started the conflict, but claimed Egypt fired first. Further, the Israelis certainly did a good job of destroying the life boats.

So far as your double conspiracy statement - the only evidence that I know of is the Israelis fired on an American ship.

I'm guessing the U.S. flag that was flying looks like a Soviet Flag too.

Further, the Israelis never claimed the Liberty looked like a Soviet ship......they claimed they mistook it for an Egyptian ship that only resembled the Liberty in as much it floats in water.

Me personally, I wish Israel would've completely destroyed Egypt and broken the surviving muzzie bastards' will to live. I get fed up with the blame Israel first crowd (Hagel et al); however, that said, it does NOT mean that we can't ask legitimate questions and claim Israel can never do anything wrong. It does not negate the fact Israel attacked an American vessel that was clearly identifiable and marked as an American vessel. It does not negate the fact that the Liberty in no way resembles the Egyptian ship the Israelis claimed to have mistaken it for.
