Oh, Laz!
We all know the drill, but just in case you missed it.
He's not a genius, he merely had the desire and drive to really study hard, at the exclusion of everything else kids his age took advantage of.
Oddly enough, following his graduation from Williams College in Massachusettes, he was forced to take a year off before his admittance into U. of M. Medical school, so he went to Europe to play hockey and was offered an opportunity to play in the NHL..........(He made all-state defenseman in his senior year when his team won the state championship and played for Williams...)
BTW, UnPeas:
Is this Essex Ohio?
Essex-on-buggery in Jolly Old England?
wait until she discoveres booze
She is piker when compared to Marilyn Vos Savant who has been rated from 190 to 228.
BFD. I have five daughters. 141; 144; 151 and the other two are very smart.
An intelligent Essex girl? Sign of the Apocalypse.
Girl with IQ of 161: Essex teenager’s IQ is higher than Albert Einstein’s
But, hey, no pressure, kid.
Okay, she gets a 10 for looks, and 10 more for caring about her appearance, which should give her a well-earned IQ of 191.
However, if she’s liberal, or turns liberal, her IQ drops by at least 90 points.
Here is what the libs have done to the education system - a smart kid doesn’t want to be a scientist or engineer, she wants to be an actor or an architect. I suppose actors get richer than scientists, but the chance to change the world is nil (and the chance of getting rich is really small). Contrary to what they say, liberalism sucks the idealism out of kids, they are more interested in #1. Kind of like Rush’s comments about Obama saying he is against everything that his policies promote.
I used to do “Engineers’ Week” talks in public schools to 8th grade classes, found very few who wanted to go into engineering - most wanted to be sports stars or entertainers. A few wanted to be doctors or lawyers, but almost nobody wanted to do science or engineering. Our best and brightest used to gravitate toward science, don’t think that is generally true any more.
Newsflash, lassie. If they thought (think) you are "a bit ditzy", I can assure you that it is not because they thought you were a 'blonde'. Coloured that way does not count.
I tested out in middle school with a very (freakish) high IQ. I was pulled out of class three or four times over the course of the year to take different tests. Didn’t know what it was about at the time. Years later my parents shared that they were giving me different tests to confirm the original score.
I graduated high school 23rd in a class of 444. In college I majored in political science and graduated with at 3.5. Nothing stellar. The only benefit I get out of my IQ is that I am able to make connections between disparate ideas/concepts that other people don’t make and I have a very good memory. Doesn’t make me a great businessman, or author, or musician or anything.
IQ is NOT an absolute indicator of exceptional.
“A 16-year-old girl from Essex stunned teachers by scoring 161 on her IQ test, more than Bill Gates and even Albert Einstein.”
Get back to me when she gets some peer-reviewed papers published in leading Physics journals. Until then I’ll believe that she simply used the Atlanta-approach in her latest IQ test, which is to be provided with the answers prior.
Also, when you see these kinds of detailed profiles (look her up in Google), it shows that the parents are shopping her around...which means that this is more her parents than her.
I always assumed that Einstein's IQ was higher than 4SD.
