“Pay More, Get Less, Lose Your Rights, Your House and Your Job.” The Obama administration in a nutshell.
So if they drop the next five days they would break even.
Problem solved.
When one goes into a post office there is long lines, no one to help you or closed for lunch or whatever. So what does it matter when they are open?
who cares?
They should also drop deliveries on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Just privatize the mail.

I bet you’re a Consultant. Arntcha? :-)
The better option would be to do away with the union and the antiquated work rules they demand.
FReeEEeePED:
The whole sorry government-bungled institution should go down!! Shut it down!!
Is there ANY place more miserable than the post office? Long, long waits, surly clerks, overpriced services, little English at mine — always a miserable experience. Ditto the DMV.
Yes: 71%
No: 24%
Undecided: 5%

I voted yes! The USPS needs to do this and take many other steps (close those unnecessary offices that politicians currently REQUIRE to be kept open) to avoid bankruptcy. They should be allowed to compete on an unsubsidized basis,
Flame away.
actually, the Post Office seems to be one of the few things that the US Govt does that actually is constitutional:
To establish Post Offices and post Roads;
http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/constitution_transcript.html
they are top heavy, bureaucratic. They have union sorters when they could use machines instead. They could raise the price of JUNK MAIL! They could charge us to NOT get junk mail. lol.
Why would “undecided” be a relevant choice in an opinion poll? If you don’t have an opinion, don’t respond.
FReeped.
We should outsource it all to FedEx.
Because too many people couldn’t understand the previous option of “press 1 for English” in its place.
They should suspend Wednesday delivery. That would result in 1 day off (Sunday)
2 days on (Monday/Tuesday)
1 day off (Wednesday)
3 days on (Thursday, Friday, Saturday)
Now we will experience 3 day outages several times a year (Friday and Monday holidays).
Also double the price of junk mail postage. IF the post office wasn’t delivering SPAM, they’d get the job done sooner. It may be “pre-sorted” but it still takes time to stuff it into every apartment mailbox.
I went to the local PO late the other night to get some first class stamps at the kiosk for a once-a-year mailing - everything else we send out goes by email or efax. Instead of being able to buy and print at least 2 sheets - 40 stamps total - at a time, I could buy up to 5 stamps at a time and each was printed separately. Talk about a waste. So I bought five, only two printed and then there was a message on the screen that the machine was down for scheduled maintenance and to return during normal business hours. This is a regular occurrence at our local post office. Have used a kiosk in Houston at some of the larger post offices and rarely ever had a problem.
In theory, if they could ever get the kiosk concept up and running properly at various places throughout a city, they could totally do away with post offices. Same concept at ATM’s and my bank never seems to run out of cash to dispense.
IMO, in the meantime, all mail including advertising, should go at a first class rate. Grocery stores could post their weekly specials on-line and save a whole lot of paper that ends up in the trash.
Looked back at the results of some of the previous polls - looks like more libs respond than those with a conservative point of view.
Cancelling Saturday Deliveries sounds good to me.
In the booming Obama Economy, everyone is away from home traveling to exotic destinations on the Weekend anyway.
