VP song contest

So ever since Rush was talking about the debates last night and calling the VP "Joey" I have had that song by Concrete Blonde running through my head and as I thought about it (can't get it out of my head) I thought it might make a rather humorous song ala Shanklin, so I thought I'd mention it here and see what the group could come up with, sure someone has the talent for a good one.

And maybe if it's good enough it will get this damn song out of my head.

Something along the lines of “Joey were not laughing anymore”

"Joey" I have had that song by Concrete Blonde. . . .

It's hard to do a parody of a song one has never heard. I have never heard of that group or that song. Link?

Wow, I guess I showed my age a bit, lol, thought everybody would know it, and then I remember I am old.

You did show your age, but you showed that you are so young. I googled and saw that that song was recorded in 1990. I don't think I've heard ten pop songs recorded in the '90s or later.

The first song that came to mind was the Top Ten ballad, “Run Joey Run”, the protagonist of the song who lets what sounds like a 12 year old girl (with child) take a bullet for him because he went where she warned him not to go. So bad it’s good, but NOT for young ears.

I thought I was the last Concrete Blonde fan left! Glad to see I still have some company. BTW, for those posters in the thread that have mentioned they've never heard Concrete Blonde, you really need to hear their cover of Little Wing which IMHO is better than both Jimi's original version and Stevie Ray Vaughan's cover:

Concrete Blonde: Little Wing

Neither have I. The first two songs I thought of for this thread were "Laugh, Laugh" by the Beau Brummels, and "Laughing" by the Guess Who.

Definitely not my cup of tea.

I’ll stick to the versions with electric guitars and where the melody is actually recognizable rather than a bunch of flutes and acoustic guitar and the melody so altered that it’s no longer recognizable.

But, hey, whatever floats your boat...

The 90's and 2000's aren't my cup of coffee either, but I like a few songs from that period, such as this one:

Mmm, Mmm, Mmm--Jimmy Z
