The odd thing about floating in the Pacific was that all three Habitats were on the same schedule. We didn't change to eight-hour time differences until we got into orbit and began rotating for artificial gravity.
It was handy, then, to have people fully awake so they could do the "night watch" during the middle of the day.
It's the convenience of having a small world.
