which movies have most inspired you?
When asked to list my favorite movies, I tend to think along the lines of “entertainment”, “fiction” or “escape from the hum-drum”.
The Passion of the Christ was a stark reminder of what my Lord & my God did for me and for the whole world. As such, it does not fit into any of the categories I first listed. It has not been filed into my mental category of “movie”.
It is far, far more than just a movie.
I would suspect that many others feel the same way.
Heh!
Elwood P. Dowd
What a fine name!
Bridge over the river Kwai and Pallion are excellent.
The Great Escape is excellent.
They never show Pappion due to strong content, but I remember seeing that film on TV when I was just a kid and I could understand the content.
The Four Feathers
Twelve O'Clock High
Zulu! (The Battle of Rourke's Drift)
Captains Courageous
The Hellfighters
Rebel Without a Cause
Paint Your Wagon
Beckett
The Robe
Ben Hur
Gone With the Wind
David Copperfield
The Great Escape
The Cowboys
Das Boot
Run Silent, Run Deep
The African Queen
“Morning in America” at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley. Lots of over-the-top patriotism, stars & stripes, and jingoistic displays of military hardware with close-up photos of jet planes being catapulted off a carrier deck! It’s awesome! If that don’t inspire you, you might be a Closet Commie!
Haven’t seen the movie for awhile during the last few pilgrimages to the Reagan Museum, but maybe it will come back.
General’s Daughter, Fried Green Tomatoes, Gone with the Wind, Lilly’s of the Valley, Brave-heart, Road to Perdition, Courage Under Fire, Red Dawn, Ben Hur, and Song of Bernadette.
I watched the Patriot again last night. My favorite line is “Aim small, miss small.”
Jaws . . . to swim in swimming pools, not the ocean.
Last of Mohicans, Windtalkers Titans.
He sent a few women into heart palpitations LoL
You oughta see Sunset Boulevard then!
I’m at reply #107 and can’t believe there’s no mention yet of Patton, or even Dr. Strangelove.
Zulu will teach a lot about Obamas history.
Robert Ruarks books re excellent
Hot Shots: Part Deux
