Hi, FReeper Friends. Hope this new year finds you and yours well.
I have some cyberstalkers/cyberbullies coming here and cutting and pasting comments, then taking them to other websites, calling FR a 'hate site' full of 'hate speech'-here's a comment from a hater hiding behind a 'sock puppet' front attacking me for being a Christian conservative & for the 'extreme' views of FR (I'm CJ):
"Yes, we should all live up to these ideals, but particularly those who claim to be Christians. So when you reflect upon your documented comments that bash whole groups of people - homosexuals, people who don't share your admiration for Kate, immigrants, democrats, mothers who choose to speak frankly with their children about sex... please keep this in mind. Walk the walk, CJ. Because until you do, you'll never find happiness. And Karma will continue to bend you over and make you its b***h." (I added the astericks in the curse word. "Kate" refers to Kate Gosselin, from a reality show. These cowards are attacking me & FR because they hater her and her fans/supporters, ).
So, since they twist every response I make, I thought I would ask my fellow FReepers what FR means to YOU. I know there will be some interesting responses! :-) Thanks!
Ok, for the record, and in case this thread is resurrected in the future: I’m assuming that your “TP” refers to a FReeper by the name of “Toddsterpatriot.” If you meant someone else, I apologize.
Tell your critics that you’ll pray for them. That will REALLY piss them off :)
Has my thread been hijacked? LOL. Same thing that’s happening to me in other places on the net...which is why I asked this vanity question in the first place. :-) (except FReepers are much better behaved, don’t drop f-bombs & c-bombs every other word, and aren’t publishing all my personal information in public. Hats off! :-)
I agree for the most part, as far as political commentary. The election year purges have gotten some good FReepers over the years, though. Most I don’t miss, but there were a few who helped make the place what it is. I’m trying not to take too strong a position on candidates early on, so I won’t ever be one of them, lol.
The quality of the economic commentary has definitely slipped, though. You’ve got bloggers trolling for hits with hysterical articles and hotbutton words on the one hand.
Then, you’ve got apparent Fed shills on the other. It’s interesting, to say the least. The economy is a mess, with some aspects being downright scary for those who bother to look for information. So, I suppose I understand the blog crap, even if it’s wrong or pushing hysteria. The other, I do not understand. It’s grating and feels a little totalitarian.
Do we really need minders on FR?
That said, you should expect, and not be surprised by atheistic leftist (and troll) behavior.
Do not expect illegal leftist behavior to be acknowledged, punished or even addressed, unless you live in a particularly conservative Texas community, and then expect Federal interference.

American idiomatic speech can be such a challenge at times.
To me, honestly, Free Republic means truth in news and public discussion. Everything can be intelligently discussed here.
It also means the best topical humor in the world.
It also allows me to converse in a way with people like rush Limbaugh, otherwise unobtainable. He’s quoted me verbatim 3 times. That is cool. An open letter written here to a conservative pol will also be seen by that pol.

I do, and it does, but they are some really messed up people, and I really DO pray for them! It makes them crazy, I’ve never seen reactions like that! Well, some examples in the Bible when Jesus removed demons...:-O

Right. And if you are not interested in it, you don’t need to read it. If you can’t say anything nice or constuctive, GROW UP and don’t say anything at all. Or you can show you callous immaturity.
