Hi, FReeper Friends. Hope this new year finds you and yours well.
I have some cyberstalkers/cyberbullies coming here and cutting and pasting comments, then taking them to other websites, calling FR a 'hate site' full of 'hate speech'-here's a comment from a hater hiding behind a 'sock puppet' front attacking me for being a Christian conservative & for the 'extreme' views of FR (I'm CJ):
"Yes, we should all live up to these ideals, but particularly those who claim to be Christians. So when you reflect upon your documented comments that bash whole groups of people - homosexuals, people who don't share your admiration for Kate, immigrants, democrats, mothers who choose to speak frankly with their children about sex... please keep this in mind. Walk the walk, CJ. Because until you do, you'll never find happiness. And Karma will continue to bend you over and make you its b***h." (I added the astericks in the curse word. "Kate" refers to Kate Gosselin, from a reality show. These cowards are attacking me & FR because they hater her and her fans/supporters, ).
So, since they twist every response I make, I thought I would ask my fellow FReepers what FR means to YOU. I know there will be some interesting responses! :-) Thanks!

An inappropriately strong negative emotional response from a perceived personal insult. Characterized by strong feelings of shame. Frequently associated with a cessation of communication and overt hostility towards the "aggressor."
I’ve been a Freeper since 2004. Serious post. Would be interested in a serious answer. Thanks.

In 97 or 98 Clinton was coming to Houston! I knew somewhere there had to be a protest! I got on AOl message system and asked if anyone knew where a protest would be. Several people said go to FreeRepublic. And of course FreeRepublic not only knew,it was their protest! I read it everyday and try to scan every story. You can ask what song did a phrase come from and usually by the third comment you have an answer! FreeRepublic keeps me from getting too depressed about the current situation the country is in! FreeRepublic always inspires that we are Americans and we can do anything!!
Yeah, I do that. When the other side resorts to possibly (strong suspicion, no proof) illegal actions (someone works at a car dealership and posted an INTRANET source to me from a school district I worked at, plus got other info from their work computer so her hater friends could scramble on google), one has to defend oneself however possible. I choose words instead of illegal actions. :-)
Oh, well. I tried to steer you away from it, to no avail.
I confused you with your better half, anyway. TP won’t be pleased to hear that you hold ol’ Ben in such low regard.

This place has an abundance of intelligent people from a large, and for the most part, successful cross section of the population doing the research that defines credibility.
And for anything falling short there are the mods saying WTFR was that????
