I own a mastiff that weighs 225 lbs, and I think the wolf in that photo weighs 230 lbs easily. Big chest, long heavy body, huge head, meaty shoulders and hips.

Sure, Mastiff's have been bred for their size, etc. Wolves, are genetically inclined to have endurance, speed, and mobility.

A wolf at 230lbs lacks those qualities to a degree. It's like mother nature decided to use offensive lineman for wolves instead of fit, agile linebackers.

The wolf is large, but closer to 180-200lbs.
