"New look, same great taste," reads the slogan on Eight O'Clock Coffee's packaging. We beg to differ. The brand's 100% Colombian product, a favorite from our March 2009 report, delivered less flavor in our most recent tests. So (drum roll, please) our expert taste testers have found two new coffee winners.

You are correct!
My bad.

Bustello is Cuban.

I think that you can only get blue mountain in specialty shops and .. IT IS ‘EXPENSIVE’ as Hell!

You ‘may’ be able to get Blue Mountain already ground in some Costcos but it doesn’t compare to the bean.

Well, I know I have seen the Blue Mountain bags at our local Costco. I will ask if it is pre ground. A lot of the Costco coffees are only bean and YOU have to grind them yourself at the front of the store.

As for Bustelo, I was looking at the prices on Amazon, and it did not look too out of line. I found a 10 ounce can for $16.49. Sounds about right for a specialty imported coffee.

Then I also found that Bustelo has a retail store in Miami

http://cafebustelo.com/retail/stores/

But I have no idea what the cost is there- besides I live in California.

Believe it or not, I have really enjoyed the Costco Kirkland brand 100% Colombian coffee. It is actually quite good and a good value.

Smaller words and simpler syntax: Coffee is coffee. If it’s warm, we drink it without complaint. Likewise, beer is beer, preferably very cold. And we often consider the beverage-fastidious and the reference-magazine-consulting, penny-pinching, value-obsessed to be slightly beneath us.

The first time I went to New Orleans was 1964, and I can still remember the aroma of the chicory as we drove into town...

I buy my Bustelo at Fresh and Easy for $4 something for a 10 ounce can. Walmart (if they have groceries) even has it. I live in California too and see it everywhere for the $4 price.
I even found Bustelo at the Walmart in Siloam Springs Arkansas when I was there in February.

Considering inflation that’s not that bad at $50 per! I used to pay $15-18 per pound at one of the North Beach coffee shops in SF back in the early/mid ‘70’s...

It’s Cuban only by culture. It’s made in the USA, distributed out of Miami.

I get it at most supermarkets and Super Walmarts. I’m a retired jarhead, so I get it at the commissary too.

I don’t think it was hard getting it in California, but I’ve lost a lot of brain cells since then.

1. coffee: Peets Major Dickason’s Blend.
2. coffee maker: I need help here. I’m told, by my friend the connosieur, that my Mr. Coffee makes substandard coffee. I don’t want to spend a lot, but probably should upgrade somehow.
