The author loses some credibility when s/he conflates Julius with Augustus Caesar.

She lost credibility with me with her early praise of “300”.
Her overall grasp of historical chronology seems rather weak.

Actually, he's right, the first Emperor who we call Augustus took the name Gaius Julius Caesar when he was adopted by Gaius Julius Caesar (our "julius Caesar") in 44 BC and then when he took the office of Princep took the name Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus . Augustus' birth name was Gaius Octavius Thurinus, his mother Atia was our Julius Caesar's niece.
