Well, if you can’t limit marriage to a man and a woman, what right do we have to limit it to just two people?
I’m sure you’ll find plenty who will agree—but I’m not one of them. Two (or more) wrongs don’t make a right.
If they are not legally married, then the law doesn’t care

Oh that’s next...multiple husbands/wives/legally marrying next of kin/probably some loon will want to marry his/her dog (at least that might be prohibited, the dog can’t sign the marriage license).
I guess from the point of view of the law, this guy is married to one or fewer of these women, and is committing adultery with those he is not married to?
The only way to escape the "two wives --> two mothers-in-law" quicksand *is* to marry sisters. /sarc>

Cheers!
Now, don't be a bigot! The dog can provide a paw print and a little bit of drool for the marriage license.
I don’t have TV so I’ve never seen a reality show but from what I’ve read they sound utterly degrading. And getting more so.
Our society is doomed.
I’m just saying from a practical standpoint, once we’ve crossed one bridge (the idea that marriage is between one man and one woman), why on earth do we think it’ll stop at a man and a man and a woman and a woman? What is to stop several people of each gender “marrying” each other? Not saying that I agree with what’s going on, but that slope is awfully slick...
Why on God’s earth would any guy want more than ONE wife anyway? :) You have enough to deal with one.
Signed,
A long time happily divorced male
There's nothing new about that concept.
About 20 years ago, during a lull in a military exercise, I skimmed through a coworker's Star Trek novel. There was a reference to contractual agreements among groups of officers to form a "communal family" with open sexual relationships. The members of this "family would take turns using their vacation time to care for the children.
It sounded a lot like the "Hippy Communes" of the 60s and 70s, except with paying jobs.
Why not go to the Middle East? The polygamists there are open about it, it’s not an underground movement there. Muslims are also the most likely to bring the case to court. It’s legitimate in African/Middle Eastern nations, and it’s only a matter of time before a polygamous immigrant, whose past culture and government allowed it, to end up here in the U.S.
If they are not legally married, the law doesn’t care.
True, but are you certain they will never make a move to legalize or gain recognition? Again, that’s a legitimate reason to keep one’s eyes open about the matter? A number of campaigns have pushed for us to both approve and fund their way of living. We don’t need any of it. The last thing I want to say is “I told you so” when someone who lives polygamously asks for legal recognition of the plural marriages he has taken on.
Men have had no problem funding mistresses and spending nights in the mistress’ home while married to another woman. The fact that a guy would want more than one wife anyway isn’t far from the man who routinely cheats his “one wife” with other women, or casually divorces and marries a series of wives (Hollywood marriages). The only real difference is that one makes a marital commitment to all of these women, while the other two cases a man tries to call himself monogamous by the letter of the law, when he is not truly monogamous.
