But that was the date Jim turned on the requirement that you register in order to post so a bunch of us have that date but we were hanging out a year or so before that. I think I was the 210th registered - something like that.

Someone mentioned ‘96—I got hold of a WebTV in ‘97 and it took me awhile to get going and learn to send/receive emails; I hadn’t ever used an ATM machine yet either at that time.
Since then I’ve gone through many websites, messageboards, forums, whatever—mainly because most of ‘em were freebies, and as soon as they became “successful” they dump the freeloaders. Others just went belly-up!
Good—maybe—to still be around, though...or is it?/!

Doesn’t seem that long— no wonder I feel a little more tired.

It would be fun to go into the archives and list the first, say 100 threads of FreeRepublic.

I was a lurker since Clinton’s impeachment. I officially joined the day after 9/11. I voluntarily closed my FR account during the heated Republican primaries when things got very nasty here. I couldn’t stay away though and rejoined in March of 2008.

February 20th, 1998 but I predate that by some years.
I very distinctly remember threads on the Clinton/Dole race of 1996.

I’ve been here since ‘98 but have had to go through some screen names. Let’s put it this way, I was ousted by Don Morgan, if anyone remembers that turncoat.
