You have the beautiful red formations in the background, a lovely secluded home and lots of "company" at your bird feeders!
If dreams are poems - then I guess it IS a poem..........
I remember a lot of that stuff!
“On Sunday, those tables would be filled with big plates of fried chicken, bowls of potato salad, pots of baked beans, and homemade apple pies”
.
Couldja find some room for a platter of Almondwood grilled ribeyes? :o)
.
My reality has no WATER! No weeping willow trees. No lush green grass coated hills. No surrounding porch. No picnic tables. And, did I say.............”No WATER!” LOL!
Not to get me wrong - I love where I live - but I cannot have flower gardens because of all the critters. I can’t go fishing at dusk. I can’t rock on a glider, holding hands with someone close to my heart. And, I can’t feel the tiny droplets of moisture, as I stand under a weeping willow tree.
And, then, here........there’s no WATER. (LOL)
(P.S. - that graphic looks somehow familiar...........)
Afraid I can’t really tell you what it means. I am lost between the metaphors of children and animals. In my mind, I have this idea that bodies are utilitarian vehicles on loan for this adventure. The spirit that lives in there is the eternal reality that is the image of God. My connection with fur bearing animals is very scant. They have only been part of the adventure as props that can be useful if you have cattle. Of course other people have different adventures and value their pets. Talk about wretched verse........
Oh yes, I do recall you telling me that before. Sorry, my memory is not what it once was. You should come home. We would love to have you back.
Of course! I forgot to mention the huge grill - stocked with Almondwood (or mesquite), ready to fire up for some lucious ribeyes, t-bone steaks, baby-back ribs, serloin burgers and even hot dogs!
(BTW, ribeyes are my MOST favorite of all cuts!)
Oh yorkie, I believe that your dream could be realized if you came home to WV. What you described is WV. I’m living your dream. How cool is that?
You are not far wrong. I would not be the first poet or philosopher to compare our relationship to God as similar to folks and their pets.
My poem related how we have, over time, changed our pets. It is my hope that over time, God changes us.
Whatever we were at the beginning; however we got our start, we've been held close to His bosom, we're affected by His Heart.
See? It just comes out that way.

You could be right, Nan! OMG, you could be right! (Lucky YOU - living someone else's dream!)
((((((HUGS)))))
Of course, Bob. That is the way I see the relationship also as far as our being God’s beloved. I just would never have made the connection to us and our pets because pets have never been part of my life. Oh, we did have the obligatory mice and snakes that come with boys, but I never got too attached to them, LOL. My adventure has been movement. I have been a free-wheeling spirit who followed the wind where it blew. I guess I heard the voice that called all of my life from age 7. I love your poems. You have the ability to paint with words. A rare gift.
Besides, it’s a lot cheaper to live here, and who knows you might find hubby #3. Just kidding.
Did you grow up in the NE? Ohio, West Virginia, and Iowa (BEST corn and tomatoes!) were my old stompin’ grounds.
ROTF!!! Never again - EVER, NAN. Not even if he's from West Virginia! LOL!
Of course, I may change my mind, if my dream would be included.......(tee hee)
Amy posted this poem - some time ago, and it touched me then, as it did tonight. Thank you.
No...SE Texas. Haven’t you noticed my Texas accent? LOL! I really do have one!
Well, just thought I would throw that out there. You should know better than to say “never”. That is a sure fire way to make it happen.
