It’s a good line of reasoning, but it will ultimately fail. He is trying to describe bacteria as a “two state system” - resistant to ciproflaxcin or not resistant to ciproflaxcin. His is a clever “selective pressure” idea straight out of Darwin. The problem is that bacteria don’t remain as Two State Systems. Within the population of non-resistant bacteria will eventually emerge an unanticipated form of “resistance” that fails to fit his model. Then we will be off to the races again looking for another way to stop this “rogue” bacteria.
