Hi! New member here. Just wanted to see if there are any interesting questions about Sweden. I'll answer them all as best as I possibly can.
eg. You look out side and see 3 feet of snow - Uff da!!,
You remember you left your shovel in the yard last night and now it’s buried under 3 feet of snow - D’oh!!.
Canadian Border Control agents’ response when confronted was, “Eh?”...
Never mind that...
Ole and Lena are in the kitchen enjoying a morning cup of Joe when the phone rings.
After listening for a second, Ole says, “sure is!” and hangs up the phone.
Lena wanted to know who it was.
Ole replied, “Guy on other end said, ‘Long distance from New York’, and I said, ‘sure is!’”
CA....
One last question:
How long is a Swedish mile ?
Do the Norwegians try to steal across your border for jobs? Do you give them insurance if they are illegal? Do you count them in your census, if you take a census?
What is the maximum tax rate on income in Sweden?
Thanks
Ceremonial armored wombat tossing?
You mean we get to do the ceremony for once?
It’s.. it’s.. beautiful.
I’m very disappointed that not all the questions were answered...

Generally, FReepers consider Sweden the ultimate "socialist utopia," meaning your big government owns, runs or controls everything economic, with taxes through the roof and cradle to grave welfare. Combine that with a "neutral" foreign policy, and there is not much for US conservatives to like about Sweden -- politically speaking, of course.
As a boy I travelled in Sweden, and years ago briefly worked for a large Swedish company, so I know Swedes understand capitalist business as well as anyone. And as for Sweden's neutral foreign policies, some time ago another Swede on Free Republic did his best to explain to us how his country was never quite as "neutral" as we might think.
So, let's get down to serious concerns: on foreign policy, can you tell us how many Swedes have served in various "peace-making" or "peace-keeping" missions around the world, and give us a sense of the sacrifices involved -- for example the numbers of casualties, or for humanitarian work, how many people were saved or helped? We appreciate any such efforts.
On economics, can you comment on the current status of socialism in Sweden? Are most Swedes happy with it? Do they want more or do they want less socialism? Would you recommend Sweden's version of socialism to others -- for example, to Americans?
Again welcome, and good luck to you, FRiend.
A mile in Sweden is 10 kilometers, or 6.2 miles.
I don't think we lost many Swedes during the Winter War since we were a "non-fighting" nation (not neutral, but our army wasn't actually involved). Our role was mostly to supply the Finns with weapons, though we did have nearly 10 000 Swedes volunteering to fight in the war.
