Hi! New member here. Just wanted to see if there are any interesting questions about Sweden. I'll answer them all as best as I possibly can.
Hello :) There is another Swedish guy who sometimes posts here. I’d love to visit Sweden some day.
The current perception is pretty neutral I’d say. Really few people are excited about him, but I guess most people think he’s doing fine. Nothing more nothing less.
Thanks for the welcome :)
Leave it up to those crazy Norwegians to eat something that is considered toxic..........so the Norskis may have done evil to the Swedish empire....go figure.....
Where Do The Finns Come From?
"Grave findings have shown that late Palaeolithic settlers in central Europe and their Mesolithic descendants in the Scandinavian Peninsula were Europoids, who had compartively large teeth - a seemingly comical detail, but nevertheless an important factor in identifying these populations."
BTW, my DNA (yDNA, R1b) analysis indicates that I'm a Dane that settled in Ireland. My mtDNA, 'V' indicates that I am probably a Sa'ami from Finland.
I have no reason to believe that he was. As far as I know he died of a heart-attack.
In the US and UK children are growing up very sheltered in their day to day activities due to fears of “stranger danger”. Is Sweden the same, or do parents feel more comfortable letting their kids roam?
I think they designed them that way to make some money. As soon as the odometer hits 400,000 miles the car dies which means you'll have to buy a new one. We're a very business minded people, don't you think? ;)
Is the old warship Vasa Haunted by ghostly sailors?
There is a thread currently up on the sidebar called: Are you new to Free Republic or the tea party.......I forget the rest of it, but you should go there if you want to find out how to navigate the FR site. Best lay low on praise of Obama here. He is public enemy #1 around here. This is a conservative site. We believe in preserving our culture and traditions and learning from past mistakes. Welcome to FR. We do love having members from other countries.
For example, you are asked, "Have you many dumsnut professors at your school?"
Your reply post would look like this:
Have you many dumsnut professors at your school?
Yes, of course.
Thanks for the tip!
To save space, you are permitted to post just enough of the question or statement to identify it. i.e. First sentence, etc.
“I dont recall hearing anything about Lone Pine. Do you happen to know the name of the newspaper? Or anything else that would help me check whether it was published or not?:”

Unfortunately, no. I realized it was a long shot from the start. It was so long ago, I can’t remember what she said or which publication it was from.
It’s just that that little town got some pretty interesting visitors those few weeks.
Thanks for answering, though.
Hemlock Stones and Dr. Flotsam are on the case.
Are You New To Free Republic or the Tea Party Movement and/or former Obama supporters?
It is really a good thread to get you oriented.
I know the answer to this one! Because he's Swedish! All Swedish guys are hot ;)
I think it's supposed to be "ofta" which means "often".
See "The history of Zot" here:

IBTZ = In Before The Zot, In other words, before the mod(erator) bans the troll poster or pulls the thread or both. IBTZ is often used as a joke, but not always.
I'm lukewarm - only 1/4 Swede. 1/4 Norwegian and 1/2 Dane. 2 Gandpa's and 2 Grandma's immigrated in the late 1800's.
I'm proud of my heritage, but more proud to be a Natural Born USA citizen - unlike our Usurper-In-Chief.
