In 1965 I was hunting and saw the south end of a north-bound cougar in northern Vermont, 8 miles from Canada. Big cat. In 1998 I saw a cougar at a zoo take down a crow that flew in the zoo enclosure while I and my family and loads of tourists were watching the big kitty cats. Unless unless a person has seen them fairly close by and in action, they can’t visualize their speed, size, and focus on killing the target. The mountain lions, as well as any pissed-off wild boars or any hungry bears, are the only game in North America that, in my humble opinion, can make it an even match for a good eye and plenty of rifle. For this guy to grab a ninja sword and go for it, he was either really stoned or that dog owes him.

Here in Florida I was hunting wild hogs and saw a Florida panther (aka cougar). The brush was incredibly thick and it was nerve racking. I was hunting with a rifle and a handgun just in case.

My friends had an adopted Puma they had declawed and defanged. I thought it ok to play with it and found it funny his big dogs were terrified of it... that is until its paw smacked my face in a play and nearly ripped my head off. I was knocked out for a minute and were sent to the hospital to wear a brace on my neck.

If it had been for real and with claws on, I do not think
I would have made it. These things are extremely muscular and strong behind their velvety coats. It’s like a totaly different scale of strength one can imagine.
