Not if you have an English Mastiff. A dog so laid back you sometimes have to lay your head on it's chest to see if it is alive.
But if a stranger comes to the door...the deep chested bark and raised hackles would send that kittie up into the attic.

My 8 lb. cat has totally cowed my two dogs, one a 65 lb. chocolate lab/weimaraner mix and the other an 85 lb. black lab/pit mix. I’ve informally named her, “The Princess of Pain.”

Well...actually you can get a bobcat for your house cat if you want to. They are quite a bit larger I think, and they toilet train rather easily. YouTube video of toilet trained bobcat. Now, that's a smart cat!
