Not far from us, a baby came into this world.
She came to us, just six days old, because momma was lost.
She melted our hearts from the moment the blankie was unfurled.
We took her in, gave her a home, with no thought to cost.

The days became weeks, the weeks became months, and now near a year.
She learned to crawl, and is learning to walk.
Momma came and went, came and went, with barely even a tear.
ma-ma and da-de are her first words as she learns to talk.

Now in September a judge gave us the right,
to have her and keep her safe from all harm
We now have less stress, and sleep better at night.
She continues to make us laugh and smile, with her charm.

Momma is still choses to live life wild
Occasionally coming to visit as an infrequent guest.
With only a moderate amount of regard for her child.
and refusing to understand, that the child be with us, is the best.

This is the story, from start to finish
We go along with her, and she with us from Day to day
There is more to her tale, to read if you wish
Go here to read the whole story our Baby-Kay

P.S. Thank you for letting me share our story with your Thread.

Thanks for sharing your story of Baby-Kay.
Meet Marissa.

In California, the cost for guardianship was approx $5000.
This was for court costs and attorney fees.
If anyone had contested our request,
the total costs would have been between $5000 and $10000.
Thankfully, we had no one contesting our request.

Thank you for loving Baby-Kay.
She is adorable.
