Interesting story. Assuming reports of no extra footprints are accurate, an avalanche may offer the best explanation.
With some of the party seriously injured if not killed by the avalanche, the remainder fearing a second avalanche fled the scene without proper clothing. With members of the party seriously injured, others panicked, became disoriented and rapidly succumbed to the elements.

Interesting story. Assuming reports of no extra footprints are accurate, an avalanche may offer the best explanation. Maybe an intial one sent everybody running, and a second killed the group sheltering in the ravine. The rest died of exposure.
But... avalanche that big would leave better clues. Full on bizarre, no doubt.
