Thank you, Loud Mime!
I don’t know that I need to add a keyboard just yet - I am trying to move the last three fingers of my right hand with more dexterity.
Do what I call “finger calisthenics”—it works. Begin by seeing it in your mind; in other words, close your eyes, and see your fingers making the proper motions. Do this for a few minutes. Next just do them on your lap; then graduate to your keyboard. Whole thing should take about 10-15 minutes.
I used this technique (it was “cutting edge” at the time) back in the early 70s when I was switching from the old-timey 10 key adding machine to a keyboard entry system. The numbers especially were “backward.” It worked for that, and then when I needed to change my job altogether for something requiring much more typing, I used it again to increase my speed and accuracy. It worked for that, too. I did a lot of it on the train on my way to work (that’s one way not to agonize over traffic!). I’m sure my fellow travelers thought I was nuts, but at least they didn’t crowd me. ;)
