"Birthers" blew a big chance to discredit the MSM, but it's still possible

What’s real telling, is the lengths they will go (parody, ridicule, death threat, rumor, scandal...) to smear anyone in the opposition.

And how they COMPLETELY are afraid to speak out or mock the Obamessiah. Late night comics swear there is nothing funny about him and “besides, we wouldn’t want to harm his effectiveness”. Yet they continue to mock and jeer and scorn Bush and Palin.

I think they have no real evidence to back up their assertion that Obama was ineligible to run and become president.

Cart before the horse. Obama was born in the last state added, which comes with it additional questions of eligibility.

It is Obama's responsibility to show his eligilibity, not for his opponents to show he "isn't". It's hard to prove a negative.

And the Democrats (politicians, not just bloggers and journalists) DID question whether McCain was eligible.

Obama himself may have even made a comment questioning whether McCain was legally qualified.

Anyone can think the “birthers” are nuts, wrong, politically wrong, and whatever and at the same time point out that the MSM was lying about this issue.

It’s also worth noting that I was considering voting for Tony Villar several years ago until I ran across mayorno.com. There’s a lot more information available out there no and a lot more people out there on the web, but a lot of people forget that many consumers of the MSM’s products might not be fully aware of how they’re being misled.

And, once again, it’s highly unfortunate that this was moved into *chat* rather than where I put it (news).

There is absolutely no way that this argument can be won in the court of public opinion. It represents too big a failure for the “greatest nation on earth” for people to believe.

Also, we must face the fact that the enemy has successfully infiltrated not only our government at it’s highest levels, but our main stream media as well.

Proving the eligibility of the president or lack thereof is a LEGAL ISSUE!... It will have to be determined in court.

So far the best argument for Obama’s guilt is his resistance to provide evidence combined with the unwillingness of the media and the courts to address the issue squarely to ensure that the nation has not been defrauded. But that’s all it is... an argument... circumstantial evidence which SHOULD lead to an investigation. The best and latest example of that truth is the Major Cook case... which whimpered out of the news blogs within mere days.

Since when does the commander in chief cave so quickly to a lowly reserve officer by rescinding his challenged orders?
If I were commander in chief (legitimately), I would march my birth certificate right down there to the judge, get the case cleared, and THEN court-martial his butt.... or force him into early retirement. Obama’s consistent avoidance of discovery is proof in and of itself that he cannot afford discovery.

That case represents the biggest chunk taken out of Obama’s armor yet... because it also illustrates the dangers of having an illegitimate president.

The press knows this... Obama knows this... and if we don’t figure it out and exploit that weakness, this is all academic. It won’t matter who gets labeled kook or nut or birther or whatever... because much larger problems and cover ups will generate a crisis that we will never recover from... the loss of our freedom.

We need more Cooks!

Excellent points. The people you describe are the worst form of cowards in my eyes.

With birth cert. in hand that says he was indeed born in Hawaii, He is still Not a natural born citizen because his dad was NEVER a US citizen.

End of story

You are correct.

I think one way to exploit the weakness is to have Sarah Palin visit all 50 states and present _her_ birth certificate for all to see and demonstrate what legitimate candidates' proof of being a natural born citizen looks like. I would like to see the MM ignore the crowds that turn out to see her.

I would like to see it too... but since it is safe to assume that the all-powerful media is still capable of molding public opinion in it's image, It probably wouldn't be a wise move. She is too important to be falling on her sword over the birth certificate issue. The media would label her permanently as a "birther" and would probably be successful in aligning her perfectly with Keyes. She is best off focusing on the obvious undeniable failures and shortcomings of the media.

“Obama was born in the last state added, which comes with it additional questions of eligibility.”

Sorry, I have no idea what that sentence means.

“It is Obama’s responsibility to show his eligibility, not for his opponents to show he “isn’t”. It’s hard to prove a negative.”

Obama has no responsibility to do anything regarding this issue. He applied to run and stated that he met the eligibility requirements. He was accepted as eligible by the people charged with the task of certification in each state. Did they do their job properly? I don’t know. None of them have complained that Obama fooled them. He has been elected president. The only way to change that is to demonstrate that he lied on those applications.

Obama committed a crime if he lied about his eligibility on his applications to each Sec of State in the country. Those who profess to hold the Constitution sacred must agree that Obama is innocent until proven guilty. Also, they must agree that he is not obligated to incriminate himself. He has not been charged with any wrongdoing, and doesn’t have to answer any questions or prove anything.

There is no need to prove a negative here. Accusers need to ascertain Obama’s citizen status. His status is a fact, not a negative. If his status cannot be ascertained by his accusers he is off the hook.

The statment by the Hawaiian official carries weight. Why, you ask? The accusers here have nothing to lose if they are wrong. That official has a lot to lose if she is lying. If she is lying there is a document proving she is lying that could be released. She has no control over the possible release. So her statement carries more weight than statements by accusers with nothing to lose and no evidence to present.

None of this makes me happy, especially the fact that I probably have 3.5 years of Obama to survive ahead of me. It’s time to resist his policies rather than chase conspiracy theories.

Bush didn’t steal the election, we did land on the Moon, Obama was born in the USA, Elvis is dead, and I don’t feel so good myself. Good night.
