A person that does not keep their animals under personal
control 24/7 is a bad animal owner and a worse neighbor.

some of her feral catsA blast from the past! I grew up near Lodi... haven't seen the town in over 20 years.
Oh yeah... back to the article... since the cats are feral... sorry lady... they are NOT your cats. I think the Animal control officer need to take a look at this because it sounds like the neighbors are a little wary of the "cat lady."

Teixeira said she decided to take action after a driver ran over and killed her cat on the bike lane on Friday.
Keep the effin cat out of the bike lane and these sort of things won't happen.

Yeesh.
I love animals (no, not in THAT way you sickos! ;) ) and would hate it if my dog or cat was run over. But that first sign was WAYYYY over the line. Upset or not, that was not the correct response for a supposed adult.

I seriously doubt her cat was run down intentionally. She needs to take responsibility, tend to the animals in her care, and keep them out of the road. Parents should take responsibility as well, and not allow their children to play in the road, either.

What about my birds?
Poor lil Mr. Sparrow didn’t show up for his birdseed this morning and Tabitha a big grin on her face.

When I was in high school, we used to joke about sail cats.
You know what a sail cat is? It’s a cat that’s been run over repeated and is so flat that you could scrape it off the asphalt and sail it like a frisbee.
A sail cat.

I can understand her anger- some people will go out of their way to run over a cat, just for kicks and giggles. If her cat was hit by a car in the bike lane; then some idiot ran over her cat on purpose, not by accident. That would tick me off too. By the same token I do not equate the life of an animal with that of a person and for her to relate her cat to a child is far beyond how I see it. I do understand her anger, but she took it too far.

She said she even mentioned she spit on someone to protect her cats.
****
So how does that work, exactly?
To: JoeProBono
I hate cats. Plain and simple. I'm a dog person. I keep my dogs in well designed kennels that are inside of a substantial fence that is inside of my perimeter fence. We have a few acres and when someone else's cat gets in our yard the pellet gun comes out and the cat goes in the garbage can.
House cats are very effective hunters. They have totally destroyed the bird population in most city parks across the nation. It is not a good thing to let your cats out to run. They do damage to the wildlife that is supposed to be there. People who let their cats run deserve what they get.

Isn't spitting on someone considered assault?
This idiot woman needs to learn a bit about animals - they can't read and don't realize cars go fast and hurt if they hit you...keep your damn cats out of the road you dumbass
To: JoeProBono
Seems that a lot of people are missing that the cat was hit in a bike lane and it could easily have been a kid.
And there are people doing 65 in a 35 zone where there are children.
This time it was a woman's cat. Next time a kid?
