No, this guy is a Hindu. “Singh”, while used by Sikhs, is a fairly common name for North Indians too.

His family bathes in the Ganges river. That is a dead giveaway for being a Hindu as that is one of their religious commandments.

Regarding Sikhs, I have had many Sikh friends, and they all wash their hair regularly. It is a religious commandment for them although i seriously doubt if the majority of them actually washes it EVERY Single day (as they are asked to) as most of my friends washed it every 2 days (like women with long hair)

what kind of religious commandments do Hindus have, anyway? I know very little about Hinduism.

If you enjoy things Indian, you might be interested in the PBS series Travels to the Edge, featuring the work of photographer Art Wolfe. His India show had the most astonishing pictures of the Ganges, Benares, etc I’ve ever seen. Amazing color and detail and human interest. I know I spent a past life there. LOL.
