OK Thanks. One other question that might be a work around for me. I have a Laptop I can take in a fast food place with free Wi-Fi and get the download. If all OS are XP home shouldn’t that update work on the desktop if I dowload it to a CD?

You’d have to find the “download and install elsewhere” version of that particular update, if it exists. Searching MS site might tell you this or direct you to a downloadable and deploy later version of the patch update.

This file would NOT be the patch that you would receive when you select “Tools - Windows Update”. I could be wrong on this since I haven’t done this before (download for later install). I have overheard my hardware guys say something to this effect and I’m fairly sure MS can offer most, if not all, patches either way.
