Paper towels and white vinegar. The idea is to completely remove any traces of her “accidents”, so she doesn’t try to “mark her marks”. White vinegar does the job, even on carpet.
A lab, oh my! I have one and he is a handful. He is three and still thinks he is a puppy, all 90 pounds of him. They are adorable but quite a handful unless you are really good at training.
They love to chew and rip paper apart.
They are very loving but very needy. They should have lots of room and boy can they run fast!
We eventually adopted a shelter dog for company for him and to give us old folks a break. They love to play and chase each other.
Good luck and I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your dog.
Wow! I mean, Jennifer Aniston is dependably horrible, but she must have scaled new levels of horriosity to make somebody cry.
We got our two huskies at the same time. I think six months between them would have been better.
Positive reinforcement works best with training.
Rewards are good.
Yelling and smacking are bad.
One of the first things you want to do is teach puppy to speak.
Reward pup for the bark and get pup to bark when you say speak.
do not reward unwanted barking.
Reward pup when he needs to go out, and then teach him to speak when he wants to go out.
My Dawg is what? 4 years old? and he is still learning tricks.
rewarding good behavior is the key.
This atheist agrees.
Not the time nor the thread for religious debate.
All dogs go to heaven.
Good movie, too. :)
Wow. Such class.
I happen to believe and hope that our pets will join us in Heaven. According to the Bible: ISAIH 11:6 And the wolf will dwell with the lamb. And the leopard will lie down with the young goat. and the calf and the lion and the yearling together Why will there be just a few animals in heaven such as the above posted?
“Get the puppy a cat so it will have an animated plush toy to play with.”
LOL I’ve considered that.....selling my wife on a cat is a no-can-do....
First day with you make sure she has a collar and a name tag with your address and phone number! Crate training is excellent to do! KONGs are great toys! Stay away from rope toys of any kind...too dangerous! Training classes with positive reinforcement help to teach you and her how to have a better relationship and teach safety.
Most of all...love her...take care of her and enjoy her.....you are her world and she will make life much sweeter!
Once you think she understands what you are asking you can start training her to heel.
Also after you know she knows those commands you can use
verbal corrections till she's about 4 months old. Then use
physical corrections there on.
“...But, in the end, we did get a new cat. He doesn’t like my daughter at all, but he follows me around like we’re best friends. His name is Fat Mike”
Great story...thanks for sharing...I’d like to get a cat also...but prolly won’t happen....
Scott
I sure wish I had the room for two.
Thats a lot of poop in the backyard!
I had an Irish Setter that would attack my cat. Take her front paws and drag the cat across the floor, and gnaw on the cats head. The cat would howl like it was being murdered. When the dog would stop, the cat would attack the dogs ears. Very seldom would the cat run away.
Other times the cat would come tearing across the room or house and attack the dog. The two rolling around until the dog basically body slams the cat. When the dog would let up, the cat was back at it.
Pets are such a hoot.
Oh yeah, 55 pound dog and 5 pound cat.
“I happen to believe and hope that our pets will join us in Heaven”
There’s NO DOUBT in my mind that dogs go to Heaven. I’m with you....
KONGS are the BEST for mouthy dawgs like labs
I cant stress it enough
“Lock up your shoes.”
LOL. I’ve heard that 100 times. My wife has like 30 pair of shoes....oh man....
“Ive had labs. This is the best book Ive ever read on developing them, not just as retrievers but as pets.”
Awesome! I think I’ll get that...thanks!
“KONGS are the BEST for mouthy dawgs like labs”
Yep...we bought one already...hehe
