We had to bomb the apartment.

I just don't know about these girls ("Little Sisters" of our frat); a year or two later I wound up with a small fridge. They'd abandoned it in the the carport; when I finally asked they complained it was because it froze everything. I figured a fridge that froze everything was probably repairable... though the first issue was to clean the months of accumulated mold & mildew (they'd abandoned it with the door closed). Some testing after that and it seemed to work just fine. Upon asking it turned out they knew nothing about defrosting refrigerators (were there "frost-free" fridges in the 70s?).

I had a apartment while in college that was very small. We kept the living room, bathroom and kitchen clean because we didn't each others mess. We also kept the bedroom doors closed. He had early classes and I had late classes, we could go a month and only see each other at school or church.

I don't think so. I had to defrost mine in the 80s.
