To the moon, troll, to the moon!

During the cold war, JFK claimed to have gone to the moon. He got congress to spend billions on his moon landing and pretended america landed there, convincing congress to give him billions, the fakeness of the landing is well documented.

It seems to me that this liberal moneybags, that he took these billions for personal use, or maybe gave them to the USSR (we all know he was soft on communism)

Perhaps his death was similarly staged in order to keep his billions or keep congress of his case.

I wonder if under an obama administration we will see more moon landings.

Sigh. There is that...can’t necessarily control those sorts of things. But that sucks. It’s not supposed to make a negative impact on your power bill. I hope it doesn’t hit you too hard.

In Boise, our electricity is fairly cheap, but gas is expensive. I keep the house set fairly low, but in the room where we spend most of our time (a small bedroom turned into the computer den) we have a lot of heat from our computers to start with, and a little portable desktop fan/heater brings us up to our comfort level.

After living all that time on the Gulf Coast, I sort of relish temps in the 60s in the winter...Sort of amazed my husband. And keeping the house at 80 with a lot of fans going also surprised him. You learn things when you live in nasty climates.

The shorter “on” cycle is supposed to be “energy efficient.”

Hm. Not sure why that would be. Sounds like they decreased the deadband, which would keep the temperature closer to the setpoint, but how that is more efficient escapes me.

Got any 2’s?

I don’t either. Someone said, “Hey! I know how we can make more money!” And off they went.

I’m always cold, and when I get TOO cold, I go to bed and turn up my mattress pad. In the summer, I keep the thermostat at 80 or so, but I still have to go outside to warm up. My circlulation is slow, my core temp is low, and I have a pair of cut-off gloves to wear if I get too cold while sitting here.

LOL.

Can't believe how dark and gloomy it is today. Much more than typical.

Sheesh! A few days LoM suggested I should update my publications list in my resume. I thought that would be a 10-minute effort, if that much, but it's turning into a mess.

A site that lists magazine articles from my industry doesn't have all my articles. And I'm finding at least one that was written but apparently never published... What a mess... *\8^(

Look on the bright side — it’s just about too cold to snow.

We’re finally up to 45, but the breeze in knocking it down somewhat, so I won’t be going outside to warm up until probablt April...

You must be up to your armpits in snow, by now...(HUG)

I hate when that happens.

I’m nearly done with my missive. Now, the question is: Do I email it? or Post it here?

I'm not sure that holds true any more. We had that early last week. It was hovering near 0oF but still snowing.

Snow on tap for tonight too. Could catch another 4". We've global warming piled high up here...

Not quite the armpits yet, but the undies catch a rime of frost now and then... ;-)

Yoiks!

My mother used to live in Brainard, and she said it often got colder there than it did in Alaska...a place she spent probably 30 years.

*shudder*

Yep. It's true. A lot of Alaska is kept comparatively "warm" by those off shore breezes. A lot of the North slope gets it straight off the Polar ice though.

Same thing with some of the Northern areas of MN. Nothing between Brainard or International Falls and the North Pole but a stray Polar Bear.

That’s kinda what I figured. Too cold for me!

My mother first lived in Sitka, then Kodiak, then Juneau and I think she even lived in Fairbanks. I’ll have to ask one of my older sibs I was too cute and little to remember all the stories!

The bad part about this kind of weather here is that when it warms up, the snow melts. Not a lot, but enough to wet the roads. The thing is, it doesn’t get warm enough to evaporate very quickly. When the temps drop out, all that ice melt freezes into a nice shiny uniform sheet of ice on every roadway.
