Well, I really appreciate you trying anyway!

I figure even if I have to eventually pay for some sort of 100 dollar converter or something, it’s only the equivalent of 3 months of cable and I don’t even want cable. I figure between the things I can download from places like Hulu and my Netflix movie downloads, and my digital converter box for local news and such...I’ll have more than enough to watch and can watch when I want!

It sure would be nice if I could just use a little $5 cable, though. Ha!

Here’s a hint: NEVER buy a Monster cable. They are overpriced. Just buy a generic cable that will do what you want.

Also, your video card may not be able to output things right. What model is your laptop?

I dunno if this as at all worth considering...but one of my brothers has one of these things. He really likes it.

It's completely separate from the computer--it does have to plug into your internet router, but then it works on its own. Basically lets you watch any of the Instant Watch Neflix stuff on the TV like a DVR or Tivo device. Would only be Netflix, though, and personally I don't like the idea of buying something that's so tied to one service...but I guess it's no different than the cable company DVRs....
