I travel by internet now but I appreciate the opportunities I had there to see things I might never have seen.
We took my young teenagers to London..At night all they wanted to do was order room service and watch English speaking TV while we went down to dinner. They attended the International school in Germany and my daughter could speak German much better than any of us could...She was the youngest.
My son was really into "room service" when we traveled too. Once we were were attending a convention at the MGM Grand in Reno, he was about 12 or 13, I think, and we had to go to a formal banquet, we left him in our suite and told him to order something from room service for dinner. I knew he would be bored to death at the banquet and I thought it would be a good opportunity for him to learn how to handle ordering room service by himself. When we called him from the banquet to check on him he said he had gotten dinner and was watching TV. I asked him what he had ordered, thinking he would tell me a cheeseburger and fries, and he said, "steak and lobster and chocolate cake". LOL.
