One of my best friends has already paid her dentist over $10,000 for bridge work. It didn’t fit, and now she has to get MORE work done, and he’s still CHARGING her!! Now it’s another $750 for this past week! She is beside herself! They don’t have any money to spare, and I think he is ripping her off royally! She is beside herself, and I don’t blame her.
I checked into going under general anesthesia, to get it all done while I’m asleep. Turns out, after a complete physical, blood work, x-rays, and paying for the anesthesiologist, a doctor on call, two dentists and two nurses, plus the room and equipment - it would cost over $60,000 - even if I only had ONE cavity!
So, I’m not getting anywhere. I sure can’t afford dental work - even with just novicaine.
Oh, that is awful!
I believe that dentists should be paid well for what they do, but for many of us, it is almost impossible to pay the charges. I need to have a small cavity filled and a crown put on a tooth that has already had a $1,800 root canal. The crown is going to be another $1,100, plus $300 for the filling. And I'm thinking I will have over $3,000 wrapped up in ONE tooth! But, what are you going to do??? I'd really like to keep all my teeth.
$60,000??? I can see why the general anesthesia would be out of the question. Does the conscious sedation work for you? My husband just takes a pill and when I go to get him after his appointment, he doesn't remember a thing. :-)
