Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Depressed is right.
I just sent you a rant. ;-)
Oh well. It’s a good job. There are always aggravations.
As long as the good stuff outweighs the bad. :)
Yesterday when I was in Omaha, I got reminded why I like my job. 22 story building, downtown, full of people in half-cubicles - basically just desks with walls on three sides, no actual privacy - and the managers’ offices were all glass, backed around an opening that looked down from all 22 stories into the lobby. We got a quick tour of the relevant department and I didn’t see one person goofing off or reading a website. It was creepy scary.
Yeah, sounds like your workplace is far friendlier than theirs.
Not to mention...looking out over Omaha from way up high = uuuugh.
56? That’s just way too close to home for comfort. SirKit and I are going to both be rolling double nickels this year.
I remember watching them when we were there back in 1980, when SirKit was interviewing for a job at Langley. It's an awesome sight.
Prayers will be going up on the 20th!
I would have run out of there, got back in the car and driven off.
WooHoo!! They like you; they really like you!
Not Valerie sure knows how to motivate her. ;o)
What's your lisinopril dosage? I'm on a 20mg tab, but if my heart function is back to normal, I'm going to ask to be taken down to half that to get weaned off it. I really hate this coughing, and it's gotten worse with my sinus infection; not the frequency of the spasms, but the severity.
MazelTov on the weight loss, Bear. I realized that even if my weight didn’t cause my heart problem, it would certainly help things if I got all the excess off. I’m doing pretty well; as of Monday, I’d lost 20 lbs. since New Year’s Day! It’s only a small amount of the total I need to lose, but I’m gonna git er done, even if it takes a year or two.
YIKES. I was wrong about my lisinopril dosage. It’s only 5mg! It’s the Lasix that’s 20mg, and he has cut me back to half of that.
Dang, Suzi...congrats on the weight loss! That’s a lot!
Yeah, well, I decided that if I’m going to pay for the Weight Watchers thing, I’d better put it to good use! ;o) I’ve also been doing some walking either outside, or inside, in place, while watching TV, about 20 - 30 minutes a day, at least 5 times a week. It isn’t strenuous, but it gets the job done! I know it’s best to lose it slowly, so I’ve been averaging 1 to 1- 1/2 lbs a week, after the initial 10 lbs. lost from the diuretics. Like I said it may take me a couple of years, but that’s OK, cause I’ll be more likely to keep it off.
Sounds like you’re doing great!
I’m back to doing (more or less) South Beach style, just for a bit. I gained weight over the winter. Not a lot, at least. I’ve lost about four pounds this month, so I’m almost back to where I was in the fall, and I want to lose about ten more. Maybe finally get to goal before quitting this time. Wot a concept...
In my case, I’m finally getting the idea that I have to all but eliminate sugar to actually have anything work. Otherwise, I’m starving, shaky and miserable all the time. Switching to pretty much vegetables, fruits and proteins (mostly nuts and cheese for snacks) means I’m just plain not as hungry. But I can’t easily just cut back on sweets. I don’t have much of an off switch where those are concerned, at least not until I’ve been away from them for awhile.
I think I’m a sugar junkie.
I need to start walkin, though...you’re doing a lot better’n me where exercise is concerned! I need to get out of this chair now and then...
Props to both of you for getting that weight off! That’s great!
Congratulations on the raise, promotion and bonus, Bear!!
Sorry to hear about the diabetes, though. OB & LSA
