I am so terribly sorry. Axel was beautiful, and I know how damn hard it is to to face this.
Fifteen years is such a long time to have such a friend. When I was young, a seven or eight year old dog or cat was pitifully geriatric- modern medicine and diet have helped immensely, but they still slip away far too soon.

I meant to add that he came to us when he was going on 5.
He was pretty mean then, and didn’t trust a soul.
With love and trust, we got him to accept his position in the pecking order ~ One down from any human except a threat.
