Demerol is not injected into the veins... I don't even think it has to be put into a muscle put for it to work faster a muscle injection might be best. You can to that easily yourself by hitting your thigh muscle or another muscle.

OK - but my understanding is that intramuscular injection medications should never be injected directly into a vein and that only RNs or MDs should perform IVs because of the complexity of intravenous procedures. IVs usually require a shunt i.e. chemotherapy or drips.

Is this incorrect?

Yes Demerol can be given IV.
