Why not stay with Larry? Because Larry was insisting she needed to get off drugs. When she became pregnant with Dannie Lynn, Larry redoubled his efforts in that direction, bc she had gotten pregnant with him once before and lost the baby, for which he suspected her drugs were to blame. She tried to some extent but failed. Larry was so upset he told her she'd have to get off drugs or else if this baby made it, he would have to claim paternity and go for custody of the baby due to her unfitness as a mother (bc of the drugs). After that, her and Stern went to the Bahamas to try to use their unique laws to keep Larry from being able to do that, and Anna kept right on with her drugs, of course.
