"Pachanga Magnum Force, Tayduh's sire. He's the one who supposedly passes on the tendency to lick the skin off your legs and feet . . . "

I sure don't see that in Blue's pedigree but he MUST be related. :)

I just got mine tonight - they will get a call from me tomorrow requesting an explanation. $350.98 for Dec 20-Jan 19. That's almost double last year for the same period. And I heat and cook with propane.

It's hysterical. As soon as I let Ruby out of her crate in the morning, she SPRINGS onto my feet with both paws and starts the "slurp-slurp-slurp" routine. She can hardly stop long enough to go out and pee - then she's right back at it. And while I'm fixing her food - and as soon as she's eaten the last morsel - and in between installments of poop - and when she fetches something for me and drops it - !!!!!

I hope Blue's not quite THAT bad!

About the only way to get her to stop is to give her something nice to gnaw on, like a Nylabone. She and Shelley are both hard core Nylabone chewers, they do serious damage even to the "heavy chewer" models.

He doesn't do it to Bob at all but for some reason, he loves my feet and thinks if I'm barefoot (which I generally am in the house) they are fair game.

I got him a huge rawhide bone and Bob keeps an eye on it and cuts off any that Blue gets soften up and loose so he can't eat it. He had a ball playing with the squeeky toys until he chewed one up and I had to pull a squeeker out of his throat.

I think Blue's in LOVE! < g >

Ruby is an indiscriminate licker . . . we were at the vet's today for her second lepto vaccination (which went fine by the way, she had a reaction to the first one so we gave her a precautionary dose of Benadryl BEFORE the shot - and other than her yawning her head off nothing happened) and she gave big wet puppy kisses to everybody (including the vet while she was trying to give her the shot - Ruby must be tough as nails 'cause she didn't yelp for the Benadryl, the lepto, or the distemper.)

She also has a thing about stealing my underwear, carrying it off to a private corner, and chewing it into teeny tiny pieces. . . .

LOL - Blue hasn't tried that yet, or if he has Bob has destroyed the evidence. I am not just real fond of him as it is. And it's not his fault at all really. I'm just so tired when I get home from work I don't have much patience for puppies and the poor child can't go anywhere in the house without knocking something over. There's a lot to be said for docked tails :)

There are extra-tough squeaky toys that you can get. Ruby and Shelley's faves are Tuffie's. They're billed as indestructible, and so far so good.

If you can just bear it until he gets through the crazy puppy stage, he'll be a great dog!

Shelley is a model of decorum (other than a little counter surfing), but it took her until she was almost two.

My vet says Ruby is "wired for sound."

I think they are checking me out:') I quit giving prices over the phone. I was getting questions that no one but someone running a school would ask IMO. I think I got it lined out though. Later I'll get some professional brochures. Right now that isn't practical because I keep needing to make changes.

Do you not have room at your place or just prefer the stables?

No doggie pics yet. My husband still has my camera. Today I let Cindy and the puppy out of the garage. Cindy went on out to the backyard. The puppy has been living outside but she high tailed it back to the garage.

We live in a subdivision, even our very tolerant neighbors would have a fit -- and the zoning doesn't allow it.

Also, I prefer a barn with a resident night watchman and the vet on speed dial . . .

When the youngest hits college and my husband retires, we're heading for the country -- we're really country people anyway, way back. My dad's people were Alabama dirt farmers, and my husband's mother grew up on a farm in NJ. (His dad was the son of a Methodist minister so he grew up everywhere, and my mom is a city child.)

Even then, though, I'll probably find a barn to keep my horse at. I'm terrified that one will colic while I'm away . . .

That's such a relief to hear :) I'll look for the toys because he sure did love the squeekies.

Same here. (well except for the Methodist thing. I come from a very long line of Baptists:')

It's probable then that they are checking you out :) I'll just wish you luck - I don't know a thing about how to do it. I'll wait for the pictures and probably won't even remind you more than three or four times a week.

PetSmart should have them . . . or whatever the equivalent pet supermarket type store is in your area.

If Bob wants professional goodies like bumpers, whistles, collars, duck slingers, etc., I can highly recommend our friends at Dogs Afield. Jerry Day (3x winner of the Super Retriever Series and the ESPN Outdoor Games) knows just about all there is to know about retrievers, and Rita Summers his assistant is Shelley's personal trainer. Rita also makes sure they carry all sorts of fun stuff, like dog-themed personal accessories and prints . . .

It might be simpler if I just endorsed my paycheck directly over to them . . .

Yowch! That doesn't even include heat? Yikes!

Speaking of calling about high bills, we had $60 in roaming charges for calls we made here when the power was out. Evidently, Qwest's towers were down and it was picking up someone else's towers. It shouldn't have been roaming, we didn't know it was roaming, I whined about it and she took off all the charges :~)

Well, the Methodist preacher was actually an AOK guy - I knew him in his old age, after I started dating his grandson. He was a beekeeper and had wonderful stories to tell about his days as a circuit-riding preacher in New Mexico Territory (as it was then). He was also a federal marshal!

His son the preacher's kid married a Catholic girl from New Jersey, go figure.

My ggg grandfather Long was a Baptist deacon, and if he knows that I turned Papist, he's probably up to about 4500 rpm out there in the graveyard in Uchee, Alabama . . . .

LOL I love that bag. I'll have to look that up for Bob. We have a PetSmart so I'll check there for the toys. Thanks for the information.

Man I guess so - it can't be your fault if their towers are down.

I don't understand the electric bill at all, I'm going to have to talk to them about it.
