The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

By commenting that you are staying out of it, puts you right in it tho:) Obviously you have an opinion just do not want to share.

Well, let me see if I can explain. I really believe it was the owner and vets call and I do support the decisions they made. Advise is good and should always be welcomed but in the end the caretakers are the ones that should decide IMO. Whether I agreed that they should have even tried, stopped a long time ago or continued on shouldn't matter IMO. It is an intersting debate and I believe we all have good points and ideas but we all do what we believe is best in the situations we are in. That is what I meant by support.

Yeah, many of the other threads get......uncomfortable. I'm hoping the Doc drops by. I wanted to ask her if they have compression boots that can increase blood supply.

I am not being very productive this morning. I don't think I like this project I'm working on. I tend to just want to hang out on the horse thread today (since I can't go skiing:')

Good morning all.

I am back from the trail ride. I just went three days. It was some of the most glorious riding I have ever done. All on ranch poroperty.

The trail boss had got permission from various ranchers to ride across their land years ago. I am not going all the way into San Antonio. So I dropped out. But Buck was a perfect gentleman and the ride was wonderful.

Can't wait to see the pics. You know where Mercedes is? My trail riding club will be riding from South Padre island to there soon. After the beach ride guess who will not be riding thru towns with them?:')

That's great to hear that you had such a nice time. I'm envious! I'd love to do something like that. I'll eagerly await your pictures too. We gotta get you a digital camera so we don't have to wait so long!

To Dawg 'n' Frog:

Yes, I have to get a digital! A woman on the ride was taking a lot of pics w/ a digital and said she would e-mail come to me and I will post them.

Dawg that sounds like a great ride near South Padre. I don't like going through towns either.

Yeah, many of the other threads get......uncomfortable.

It wasn't just that, it was just that they were rather shallow.

Just opened the telephone bill. 14 hands in my pocket on this one. The phone is ringing off the wall. Some guy just called and said he had to get rid of 80000 pens today and he could monogram and sell them to me for next to nothing. I had to act right now though. Wonder if he buys horses too:')
