Sorry for the double posting above. There's another inconsistancy in the NYT report. The sane nurse orally noted how much pain the AV was in when the vaginal exam was being done yet:

She told the U.N.C. doctors that she had denied being in pain in the Duke emergency room because she was “drunk and did not feel pain.”

The AV could have been beaten up after the alleged rape by say her father, pimp, or ???

She was dealing drugs and a runaway at fourteen. Married at joined the army at what, 18? And, now has again cut herself off from her family.

She's suffers/has suffered from bipolar disorder, depression, back problems, etc. Is there a pattern of abuse in her background?

She admits to having had two large beers before the event, plus other testimony is that she was given a mixed drink.

She was on a muscle relaxant according to her statement.

Combine alcohol (beer,drink) with that particular relaxant and the manufacturer says you are risking death and hallucination.

I'm quite willing to take the word of the manufacturer, and this woman seems to have been hallucinating.
