I'll never forget when Christopher Hitchens was on Dennis Miller's HBO show a few years back. Hitchense stated emphatically that Clinted raped Juanita Broderick. Dennis Miller replied "Let me know what it feels like to be gang audited by the IRS".

I feel your pain!! You wouldn't believe what kind of nonsense I get everytime I try to file form 941.
It's the sword of Damaclese hanging ominously over your head.

A close reletive of mine got tagged for a pile of money about 9 years ago too... He had filed his apeal to their audit - on solid ground - but since he sent it via Federal Express... they never looked at it. He sent it ahead of the due date, but the IRS said since he used FedEx and not the USPS, it wasn't considered in their custody untill it arrived at the IRS office (normally the IRS considers a USPS Post Mark as proof of custody). It was a precedent setting case, featured in the WSJ and so on. I believe the law was actually adjusted after that to allow FedEx and other commercial carriers. How nice...

You're more than welcome - and hardly the only example of that sort of IRS waste of taxpayer's $$$. It angers me too, and I'll be damned if I'll take it any more.
I'm really making a pest of myself with all 3 of "my" congressmen (2 of which are Dems) - and plan to keep right on until we have the FairTax..

You know, as much as I hate the IRS, I’m not sure FairTax is the way to go.
I looked at the link to the website(albeit briefly), and the first thing that came to mind was, “Ok, that sounds good, but then, what keeps all the companies from just buying their merchandise overseas, building it overseas, and shipping it here?”
By doing it this way, would they be able to avoid paying US taxes? And if they could, they would encourage companies based out of the US to ship even more jobs overseas, causing an economic tailspin. Sure, you’d be able to have retirement and education savings untaxxed, but would you have those savings without a job?
The alternative is to include regulations to keep companies from doing that, but then you’re stepping on fair trade, and we may as well just adopt the entire socialist agenda.
