Ahem. All cookies in this household are made from scratch. ALso, I make sauces from scratch. Except for spaghetti sauce, because I had a cook-from-scratch-for hours spaghetti sauce, and when I used Ragu one time in an emergency, it tasted identical!
However, I ALSO have a lot of recipes which are unusual. Here is my favorite quick dip (which will no doubt make you hyperventilate):
1 8-oz package Philadelphia Cream cheese, softened
1 can Hormel chili
8 oz. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Spread cream cheese on the bottom of a 10-inch pie pan. Spread can of chili over cream cheese. Top with the shreddad cheddar. Microwave until bubbling. Serve as a dip with tortilla chips or Fritos.
The above recipe has no nutritional value except for a bit of protein and a WHOLE LOT OF FAT. But it sure tastes good!

I was just reading down through the thread, and now I notice the comments about your job seeking trials.
John, do you remember when my husband was out of work? That was when he went to work at the airport loading mail and I was taking catalogue orders at a factory on the evening shift. I believe you were on the USA vs Clinton thread then.
We struggled through and he finally got a job after nearly a year of trying, and then contacts from that job led him to a better one. It was certainly a trial of our faith and our marriage, but we made it, and you will, too.
The Lord often wants us to experience the desert, so that we learn something. I know that he will reward you for your faithfulness and service. Hang in there.

Well I'm messy, so I just dribble the flour down my front then snap a bit on my cheeks. I'll think about the nose part the next time I bake cookies.

Sorry. I've done my "scratch" baking for the year.
Am I to understand you are making cheese???

Till, I don't have the time or the patience to bake cookies.
So instead, I use the cookie recipe and glob all the dough into a jelly roll pan at once and make bars. My guys don't seem to mind at all. In all the years I've been doing this, I've never had to throw out any stale ones.

There are ways and there are ways, Mozie. I'm glad it came out okay. I've done things like that in the past.
I'm messy, too. At least sometimes. That's how I know about the flour trick.

The man is a fabricater. I cannot believe for one nano second he would sleep in a truck, with his butler?

When I made cookie dough, that's the way I'd do it and called them cookie squares. THEN I found these premade, precut cookies.

Well my dears, best I head for bed. I've spent most of the day in the yard, I trimmed back my fairy rose, a bush rose and tiee it to some re-bar to keep it from flopping around, Roomey had me rake up some dead leaves, so now that he's taken me out to dinner, I'm ready to turn in and so is my hip. The ball on the hitch is telling me it's tired. So till tomorrow. Take care, sleep well, STAY SAFE, for those in tornado alley. Nite All.

I tripled the baking powder. It came out just fine.Excellent! So glad it worked for you.
I'd have probably doubled the baking powder and added a capful of vinegar and an extra egg, just for luck.
I need to remember your method, since it works!
