We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

In Iraq, three terrorist bombers killed 79 people at a Shiite mosque.

A French energy executive says the world cannot meet the oil demands of consuming nations over the next 10 years.

Astronomers have discovered that Uranus, like Saturn, has a blue ring.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

I also ran out of flour while mixing up the batter (this is why we ALWAYS check our ingredient list before we start baking.:(

....so I had to toss in a little whole wheat flour to make up the difference. Nobody could tell.;^)

I've been know to throw in Bisquick or Pancake mix into the mixing bowl when I run short of flour while baking.

Chocolate Frosting covers most mistakes. And nobody knows the difference.

Yep.

And I made THAT from scratch too!

Of course, I had to go buy some powdered sugar because.....................I was out.

You can see why I don't bake much.

I ran out of oats once while making oatmeal cookies, so I threw in a couple of those individual serving-sized instant oatmeal thingies.

Worked pretty well!

You didn't make your own confectioner's sugar? You went to the grocery store to buy some?

Heck, I just throw some granulated sugar in the blender and blend the heck out of it. It turns into lovely powdered sugar and works just fine. Give it a try next time.

Let me know how it works!

This isn't something I'm willing to try. You are younger than me, and have more courage. You do it. And tell me about it.

Not that much younger, and certainly not more courageous.:-)

But I will try it (someday) and report the results.

Ev had a nasty experience today. He bought himself a pair of shoes and when he went to use his debit card to pay for them, it was rejected. The salesperson called the powers that be and it turns out it was rejected because he had, within the last 5 days, used it in Kuwait, Germany, Georgia and Illinois ("suspicious circumstances.") When she told him this he explained his situation but she was under strict orders to cut up his card, and did so. She felt bad but said she had no choice.

So he went to his bank and they apologized all over the place and gave him a new temporary debit card but it's American Express and so he might not be able to use it everywhere he wants.

This really stinks IMHO.

Oh good grief! I can see it from both sides, tho. How do they know Ev is really who he says he is?

There is so much credit card theft out there these days, they have to be very careful. And with the trail of usage the past few days, I can see why they'd think someone was on a lark, spending where ever, whenever.

I had them pull a card on me once, for a similar reason. I had been traveling, used the card in Phoenix, then the Denver airport, then the Des Moines airport, and then for gas on the way home. When I got home I sat down and called in a catalog order I'd put together on the plane.

The catalog order was a big one. They put a 'stop' on my card. Of course I was calling from my home with the catalog order so nobody tried to seize my card and cut it up. Now I wonder if they'd done so, if I'd been out in public.

It's a sad world we live in. I guess you know that already.

"How do they know Ev is really who he says he is? "

He has a military I.D.

I guess he didn't get a chance to show it to this person before she got her "cut it up" orders.

Good night Toots.

That's the cold weather we had yesterday. However, it is warming up today and by Friday we are to be in the mid-70's. Hang in there...it will get better!

From your linked article: At present, we're relying too much on translators by bloggers and other amateurs.

FreeRepublic's own jveritas has translated the pages referred to here, and today's Captainsquartersblog.com has had the accuracy tested by hiring 2 independent translators.

'Pity the linked article didn't give credit where credit is due. (See Captain's Quarters for more details.)
