Why do they always pick on Canada!

The Canadians aren't anymore prone to occult or new age stuff than any other country.

Having lived my whole life in Michigan, I can't stop myself from making fun of Canada. It's in my blood.

In a sense, I'm poking fun at the mitten. We generally think of Canada as Really Northern Michigan.
