Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength. Anyone recall those?I have them! They are a great series. They were written before Tolkien published Lord of the Rings and I always imagined that Lewis' Merlin foreshadowed Tolkien's LOTR incarnation of Gandalf.

They were written before Tolkien published Lord of the Rings and I always imagined that Lewis' Merlin foreshadowed Tolkien's LOTR incarnation of Gandalf. The edition of That Hideous Strength I have has a footnote refering to "Lord of The Rings". It suggests that those wishing to learn more about Númenor read Tolkein's "upcoming" books. The two were obviously exchanging ideas on mythological histories.
