Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Tomorrow we may come this way...
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

BTW, any chance I could e-mail/FReepmail some of you my letter when I finish it, to check for obvious flaws? I want to get it worded just right...
And right now, I'm stuck on the greeting. I mean...I just can't see starting it off with "Dear Mr. Lastname", since that's just...weirdly formal for my department. But "Dear Firstname" doesn't sound right, either. It's a quandry. Maybe just "Firstname" with nothin' before it? Or is that rude?
Gah...I'm not good at this. But I'll feel much freer once I've done it. MUCH freer. I feel like I've been sneaking around behind their backs lately.

Sure... I'll read it and give you any tips I think need tipped!
I've always addressed mine with first name, because of the level of familiarity. But I wrote them in memo form, so in the TO: area, it could be their ful name and title, and in the memo body, I could say "Dear Debbi".

Yeah...I already had his full name and title up in the header. So...I guess you're right, it's OK to use first name.
I'm almost done. Trying to keep it short and to the point. I figure it just needs to have the basic info, since he can always ask me any questions he has directly. No need to spill my guts, right? ;-)

This should be a signed letter, right?
Figuring out what goes in the signature block...

Tomorrow's gonna be my scary morning...
So...who wants to proofread? I think I said things too abruptly...but I don't wanna go off on long explanations, either.
But right now it kinda sounds like I just woke up one morning and decided to move...

2J...what do you know about Latin...Well Trained Mind talks about Martha Wilson Latin Primer Series. Also, what do you use for writing? Have you ever heard of Writing Strands?
Trying to get the schedule together for this year. Got the fish in the tank (though 2 have died and we had to treat the water) and put up the solar system anf now it's time to crack the books. I have a wall ready for our time line but am waiting until we finish early American history to do it (I want to start it when we start over at the beginning of time).
Looking forward to seeing your family this summer...you think you all will be able to come a little early or stay a little late?

I have heard of Writing Strands, but don't really know anything about it. I don't know anything about the Latin you mentioned...Matthew's teacher uses Latina Christiana.
We're going to rent the car for a week for our visit...so we have plenty of lee-way!
I'm off to donate blood here in a bit...

Thanks, folks! Now...if you can just keep me in your prayers for the next 24 hours... ;-) This is going to create quite a stir. It's not exactly a hugh place.
To: RosieCotton; Corin Stormhands; All
I'm off to the blood bank! Steve is coming home right after we donate, so you won't see me till tomorrow morning.
Bye!

Writing Strands is very good! My mother used it for all of us. Also "Learning Language Arts Through Literature".

All the fuss about the kitties lately made me realize I really don't have many photos of Tam scanned in...so seein' as I'm done the resume and now basically goofing off, I found a few. Indulge me, OK? ;-) The dates are completely off...I didn't realize that feature had been turned on until it was too late. This was actually more like '00 for the first two and '02 for the last.
Meet Tamino!
Keeping me from spending money:

Posing as a prince...spoiled brat!

And this is his ticked off look...I was either just leaving for a trip or just returning, I can't remember which. Just leaving, I think. He's not happy with me in this picture...
