The Hobbit Hole XIX - Tomorrow we may come this way...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 01/27/2005 9:59:05 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Tomorrow we may come this way...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

From Miss Hair's advice column this morning:

Dear Miss Hair:

I saw "Troy" this weekend. It contained Legolas playing Paris like Legolas. (As well as major changes to the original stories, but that's Hollywood for you and beside the point). I also saw "Pirates of the Caribbean" some time ago. Legolas was in that too, but if they hadn't plastered his name on the screen at the beginning I might not have noticed the character at all. The question arises: why on earth do Hollywood producers keep hiring Julia Roberts? And Orlando Bloom? Are Miss Roberts and Mr. Bloom in possession of pictures of said producers frolicking with sheep?

Thank you.

Well, not being a young wimmen, I'll have to take your word for it. Thanks, Miss Hair. Nice timely job putting Sean in the Hole by the way. Speaking of which, at 4818 some troll claiming to be Jimrob posted to the Hole. Don't worry, I'm sure he/she/it has been zotted by now.

:^)

Start by clearing your cache and history:

1. From the Tools menu at the top of the screen, click "Internet Options"
2. Click the "General" tab in the small pop-up screen that appears.
3. From the Temporary Internet Files section, click the button "Delete Files". Check the box "Delete all offline content" and click "OK"
4. From the History section, click the button "Clear History"
5. Click "OK"
6. Close the browser and reopen it.

If it still does not work, you may also need to clear your cookies:

1. From the Tools menu at the top of the screen, click "Internet Options"
2. Click the "General" tab in the small pop-up screen that appears.
3. From the Temporary Internet Files section, click the button "Delete Cookies". Click "OK"
4. Close the browser and reopen it.

Note that after clearing your cookies, you will need to re-login to any password protected sites (such as FR or other message boards), so I would only do this if the first series of steps doesn't work.

I can commisserate -- when I lived down there in Thurston County our power was always going out, 4 or 5 times every winter, often for no ostensible reason. It got very frustrating. Even right in the city this happened. Now I've moved up here and our power has not gone out once since we've been here. There's something very wrong with Thurston County power. Tacoma City Light is great.

It's not like our weather is bad (in fact this is about as close as you can get to a normal California winter as I've ever seen). What is this, we're going to have like 15 days in a row of full sunshine -- in February?!

One thing for sure... It's not caused by the weather!

Hmmm, well I'm stumped. Tried it in my other browsers too, and they all worked fine too. Not sure what's going on there.

Looks like a fun adventure. We're going to have to do a webpage like that when we start our construction project!

I hate updating resumes...

BTW, the one job I'm mostly looking at applying for has both an e-mail address and a regular address for sending applications. I was gonna just go with e-mail, but is there a better chance of catching their eye if I don't?

On the other hand...an e-mail application can more easily be passed around, I'd guess.

Not doing this today, anyway, since I don't have any current references. I'm really, really hoping that I can use some co-workers and my boss, but I'm wondering how they're gonna react tomorrow.

Still haven't done that letter...
