I don't know about anyone else, but when I find information hard to get there usually is a reason. New this new feature called .... Internet search. The Villages
To: lizma

Actually, it's across the street from me, but that's not the point......it's an ad that's missing an important piece of information.........

You mean there's more than one Village now??!
The original was very pleasant: self-opening doors, best modern design inside, charming eclectic architecture outside, a lovely green, free health care, cute little local taxis, though everything was within walking distance. . .
Of course, you were stuck with a number instead of a name, but you could settle down into a nice retirement---provided you told them what they wanted to know and didn't try to escape.
Of course they won't say where the Villages are. . .too much of a security risk. :-)
Lest we get the bunny with a pancake on its head: I'm refering to the surreal spy drama/psychological thriller in 13 episodes, The Prisoner,
which starred and was produced by Patrick McGoohan and is sometimes held up as 'television's first masterpiece'.

It is Florida. Callers would not remember the information. :0

Try waving a Bingo Card around in the general vacinity. That should solve your problem.

I agree that to omit the location in the commercial is strange and annoying. But The Villages is not a dump. Located in central FL south of Ocala, The Villages is one of the premier retirement communities in the country. It is huge and continues to grow.

So, are you saying you live in a dump?

"There are a hundred ways to build a village, and every one is correct."
But there is only one way to advertise a village?

Imagine how interesting this thread would be if you had actually interviewed someone, or (gasp) taken the trouble to find out where The Villages actually is.

I kinda like the lack of location in the Villages ad, drums up interest...even from FR! If you don't know where, you must not need to know and are not welcome. IMO it has that ol' USSR Dacha feel to it.
It is in a pretty nice area, removed from the unwashed masses and is certainly a desirable place for some active retirees.
Not too expensive, a lot more to do their than at a typical retirement complex.

The family that developed the Villages is GOP all the way. Bush made appearances there in both campaigns. Lots of money and votes.

the point is the location was left out......a very poor mistake and I would question the chocie to do so.....
Personally, I could care less where they are......that's not the issue.

Ah, you got that connection, too. . .
I wonder if they use this logo in their ads:
To: Laur
There's no question about the Villages themselves....most of Central Florida is beautiful, clean stores, Americans behind the cash registers, etc.....
