Posted on 11/20/2004 9:15:24 PM PST by paulsy

I can't believe what I just saw on that show. If you watched it, you know what I'm talking about. The "funhouse" skit...

I haven't watched them since Murray left.

Screw the Satan's Spawn of Lorne Michaels.

I agree with you. I just saw a SNL repeat on E! where Hammond was playing Clinton, soliciting the vice presidential nomination from Kerry.

His tagline was: "Let me put the Vice back in the Vice Presidency."

Now THAT was funny.

Yeah. SNL has mostly $ucked for years.

I replaced it with South Park years ago. At least the writers/creators are conservative and take a bunch of pot shots at the liberal pc world.

Hi, Extreme Unction:

The "original gang" of Chase, Belushi, Ackroyd and Radner did most of the writing. Chase was originally hired as writer as well. ("Dead String Quartet", "TryOpenin" "Try Hard Di-Cells" commercials, "Point/Counter-point" etc) during the show's first three seasons. That and Belushi, Ackroyd & Radner were alums of Chicago's "Second City" and "National Lampoon" comedy albums.

Jack.

I saw it, and I didn't think it was so bad... it's just a dumb skit. The skit right after it made fun of gay men.

If you can't handle intentional comedy, stick to CBN with weatherman Pat Robertson and the big-hair church ladies.

Thanks for the heads-up. Is it worth a FCC complaint?

No because it will just give them PR

My advice .. Just stop watching their show and ignore them

Tina Fey is NOT funny. I can't watch the show anymore and she has a lot to do with it. She is NOT funny. And I state this because people who reguarly tell me that this chick is funny. She sucks.

I agree .. she is bad and the weekend update .. CAN'T STAND IT

Ditto. Haven't watched since then. Gilda Radner was my favorite.

I can handle a lot, but not that, this time. I understand what you're saying. But I have to disagree with you. I really don't think my options are limited filthy liberal cultural bigots on one side, or sanitized halleluiah hair freaks on the other. I thought about it this morning, and it still bugs me.

The skit right after it made fun of gay men.

Oh yes, that tepid little stab at balance. That was enough?

SNL is geared toward 14-year-olds. Tina Fey is sarcastic. If she happens to be talking about something you wish you could zing that well, she'll be funny to you. If not, she's just mean. She doesn't try to be funny like a comedienne, just sarcastic.

Once in awhile SNL can be still funny. Star Jones' wedding vow... 'I, in conjunction with Lady Speed Stick, take you to be my lawful wedded husband...' is a recent example. There are good lines here & there but overall, it's a waste of time. There's nothing else on worth watching (MadTV is just crude to me). Saturday night TV is like being in L.A. on New Year's Eve. There's one thing to watch and nothin' else going on anywhere.

I stopped watching SNL over 20 years ago.............Around the same time I lost my Communist girlfriend from Massachusetts.

Of course, I we just shut off TVs and pick up a guitar or something : ) I guess the level of disdain in the skit was on a level that I haven't seen. A lot of other media is ratcheting up the hostility. Maybe it's just venting, or maybe it's a sign of more hostility to come. A good thing is that most people here probably don't share their outlook and they may be marginalizing themselves. Who knows.

I think showing two men being intimate reminds most Americans just how gross they find it. So yes, SNL showed both sides of the issue:

1) Denying the legitimacy of gay relationships denies gays their rights, and it's a backwards position
2) What gay people do is really icky.

This is from the website of the cowardly lioness Moby:

"ok, after thinking a bit about the election i've come to one, simple conclusion. and that is that americans prefer comfortable lies over uncomfortable truths.

I haven't watched that pompous show since I realized that they realized they were hugh, and started to take themselves too series.

Now, if I find that I've flipped through the channels and catch a glimpse of them, well, I just HAVE to stune them with my remote beeber.

:O)

I gave up on SNL years ago, when they stopped being funny.

And after last night, I'm about to give up on MadTV as well.

I happened to flip by SNL and saw the skit, so I stopped and watched for the first time in a while.

Don't stop watching because you were offended by the skit; stop watching because the show is awful. Any bits I do watch are boring as heck - the current cast isn't the least bit funny.

ABC will do something similar before Monday Night Football with not-so-straight Cleveland QB Jeff Garcia.

Jeff Garcia's girlfriennd playmate of the year Carmella Decesare would disagree with you.
